Seared Five Spice Wild Striped Bass (or white fish) with a Wild Rice Broth

Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • 70 oz (5 cans) Manischewitz® Vegetable Broth
  • 1 cup (mixed) long grain & wild rice
  • 2 cups Manischewitz® Whole Wheat Matzo Meal
  • 2 teaspoons chinese five spice
  • 6 (6oz) striped bass filets
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups asparagus, cut in half then sliced pencil thin
  • 1/2 cup yellow bell pepper, julienned
  • 1 cup tomato, diced and seeded
Preparation:
  1. Cook rice in vegetable broth for 30 minutes or until rice is tender.
  2. Meanwhile, mix matzo meal with chinese five spice; Coat bass in matzo meal mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium high heat; sear bass until opaque and flaky or internal temperature reaches 140 degrees F.
  4. Add asparagus, peppers and tomato to rice and broth mixture; simmer 5 minutes.
  5. To serve, divide rice mixture evenly among 6 serving bowls; top with one piece of bass.
